CYS Superhero

Our 'CYS' aka Craft Your Stash group from SCS has a challenge this month with the theme Superhero.  I literally have NO images to use, and found some cute punch patterns, but decided to celebrate an everyday Superhero- Mom's!

I finished the inside too - and added a cape (it is not attached to anything......). This image so reminds me of a Superhero mom that still has kids at home and spends so much time on the go!!!

So, the premise of CYS is to create with our supplies that have gone unused...  So, I have enough sequins in my stash to make shaker cards for....a long time- non-stop!  And, this is the first time using the die set I used for the sentiment and for the frame around the shaker.

I used the remaining of the DDD Kit from THIS post. I have to say, this is the card I first envisioned when I saw this kit- and thankfully, we received 2 of the fun image, and I had plenty of the DP left to have fun and create!!! I loved the way THIS card turned out, for which I did the same thing with paper strips on the backgrounds.

Hugs and comfy quilts

I think the quilt dies that are out are a fab way to use up DP that I have stacked in my bins!  So, I grabbed this one by Gina Marie and went to town!

Now, I love these colors- the teal-ish blue is one of my favorite blues as of late...... But, if you look closely, you will note that the card is watermarked with an egg image...LOL, that is right, the egg image is by Michael Strong Stamps.  I had a nutty month with a family death and a few more not so fun things, so did not get my 'egg themed' card done before Easter,  So, what do you think???  I added a butterfly (MS punch) and a Hugs die which is colored with shimmery clear pen. Now, I have 3 more of the quilts for cards ready!

Faux Canvas

I had some fun making a project for the adult day care my Mother goes to. We made a Faux Canvas with a spring theme.

We used  the bottom of a box (these were from a grocery store) that is 9" x 12. They were painted with Gesso.

The grass was punched out- 6 per 8"x11 1/2" cardstock. the trees were cut using the Silhouette- a design from the library in the Make the Cut program (tree23),  The clouds- Memory Box dies in Marina Mist SU CS. The bird is a unbranded die from China cut out in red SU CS. The flowers are from various punches- I put double sided sticky tape behind the clouds, the bird and back of the flowers so they could be added to the canvas easier.  I am not sure if it was easier or not- peeling the tape off the shapes- or if it would have been easier to glue each piece.

We made a total of 13 or 14- here are a few of the faux canvases:

Easter craft

I made a fun Easter craft for an adult day care my Mom attends.

I left it uncolored so the clients could go with the flow, either color it or not, The image is Create with TLC, The DP and cardstock is by SU- most likely retired.

inside is a Tic-Tac slot/holder.

I made 20 of these for the day care.  They went together easily.

I found the Inspiration from HERE.  I had to alter it for the Tic-Tacs:

Cut cardstock 3" x 11"
Score at 1/2", 1 3/4", 3", 3 1/2 ", 7" and 7 1/2"

Follow directions in link above.

I have a Nellie Snellen die- from Sweetstamps.com that cute a tag with slots in the ends for ribbons. HERE is the link, and it looks like it is on sale more than 50 % off.

The image is on dimensionals. The dimensionals have to be above the ribbon in order to open the holder with ease.

DDD- You are My Sunshine!

Well, I missed the 15th, but had to play with the kit for the Dueling Darlings this month. The theme- You are My Sunshine!

Oh this kit was a blast, and I have a 2nd card started. I used to sing this song to my kids every single night when they were growing up!
I used a sketch is from Sweet Sketch Wednesday. I colored the image with Copics. I used a lighter shade BG70 and a mid range BG75 tip to tip to create the middle color for Sunshine and the girls shirt.

The kit contained:

Caffeine Problem?

I had a challenge for a green card- so went to work with distress inks.

I used an emboss resist technique- using the embossing first before applying the distress ink               ( Mowed Ink) , as you can see.  I added green highlights to the coffee cup, the added brown for the 'coffee' in the cup.  I had a scrap of burlap sitting on my desk, so used it under the cup. I thought brown shades of sequins would be perfect : )
The image is Michael Strong Stamps, the sentiment is The Paper Company.

Joy

The Crafters of Faith (COF) group over at Splitcoast has a monthly post with a theme suggested reflecting a reading from scripture.  For April Jeanette is the hostess and our theme is JOY.

Joy is not based on circumstances, but rather comes from within. No matter what is happening in our lives we can have Joy because of our love for the Lord and our hope in Him.

Joy is also one of the fruits of the Spirit…

Galatians 5:22-23 (ESV)
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.

My Joy is papercrafting, and especially using supplies to try a new technique : )

I happened to see a long handled pasta brush ($3.95) and I bought it to see if it would work like a much more expensive one that is on the market.... I used Distress inks and brushed them across white cardstock, viola.  I also brushed color on a smaller piece of cardstock for the sentiment.  I turned it around to cut out the sentiment.  I cut out the Memory Box die and glued it onto Turquoise cardstock. I decided to leave the card CAS.

I took a second piece of cardstock and cleaned off the brush on it after using the ink above.  It was much lighter in color. I thought it would be fun to add a stencil over the top of the cardstock- I did not clean off the brush between colors, can you see how the dirty brush grayed up my brushed on colors?

I experimented with the flower, and finally was happy with a piece that I had brushed on the Coral Distress ink on before stamping.  I added white Signo pen highlights and a touch of shimmer to the centers of the flowers. I fussy cut out the top image leaving the flowers out.  I colored the leaves with Copics and fussy cut out a 2nd image, so the floral layer is sitting up a layer.  I also had a butterfly punched from a piece of waste that I added onto the top.

OK, now Darnell has asked for April that we post Boo Boo's.  Initially, I was going to leave 1/2 of the sentiment white. I decided I did not like that and was going to brush color onto the white part of the die, and essentially ruined my 1st panel..... (which I used for butterflies and Easter Eggs).

Oops!  Well then........

Wild Blooms

I was able to dig into one of my 'die' drawers, and found one I have never ever used.  I bought it in 2014 and enjoyed finally using it.

I thought this would look good with the inlaid die technique.  So, I cut out the die (Wild Blooms- Memory Box) from white cardstock.  Next, I applied double sided sticky tape to the back of the Rose Red cardstock, and then adhered the die pieces into the openings on the white cardstock.  The outer die is by Gina Marie. The DP is Prima Madeline.
