Sweet Stamps Challenge- Mother's Day

My Mother is a Master Gardener- and she loves Yellow......so........

I made this card for My Mom for Mother's Day.  I have been wanting to try stamping on Kraft cardstock, so thought I'd combine a spotlight technique as well. I used Copic Markers to color in the image. I added borders of stitching around the border of both panels. I also sponged on some Brownie Ink for depth around the outer edges of the card. I stamped the sentiment in Sand ink and cut it apart to layer the sentiment as I did.  I added some fibers to the corners for balance. This was really quick and easy to create, and I know my Mom will love it!  Because I have to mail my Mom's card- no dimensional flowers of big bows....... but I think she will enjoy my card all the same!

 I used :
A new stamp 'From the Garden'- Blossoms rubber stamp.
Inks: Memento Black Tuxedo (on sale) , SandCastles and Brownie Shades Die Inks
Copic Marker Sets from Sweet Stamps Sunshine and Victorian Green plus I outlined with W1 from Warm Shadow
To top off the color, I added a smidge of sparkle with a Lemon Spica Glitter Pen.

I hope you will join in the Mother's Day challenge!  Every entry qualifies you for a chance to win $20 of items from the store at  Sweet Stamps, and if you use a Sweet Stamps image- you will receive an additional chance to win! Please note- there is a limit of 10 challenges for each entry. The winner is chosen by Random.org- so everyone has a chance to win!

Copic 2012 chart

Being the visual stamper that I am, I am always making charts.  When I purchased the 2012 Copics, I downloaded the Copic Color Chart for 2012 at Sharon Harnist's blog PaperFections. The chart downloads blank aka uncolored....***

I printed the chart on the cardstock I use most with Copics, then colored in the chart with my Copics and Spica glitter pens.  I have a Dick Blick right around the corner, so stopped in there, and put a little dot of color in all of the squares of colors I do not have- this will help with future purchases........ : )

Since I tend to buy the same colors over and over, I took the blank chart and cut it up by color and rearranged it into A4 sections- then colored in the colors I have:
Now, I have my Copic colors in my purse :
I punched a hole in the top left and put a ribbon thru it.  Next, I will print another for re-inkers......

I do not know how to post a downloadable chart- but HERE is a link to the page I made for the A4 sized chart.
I think you will just need to Right click and save as- and save to a file. If that does not work, drop me an e-mail and I will e-mail the chart to you. (  Shellymc2 at Comcast.net  ).

You can print Sharon's file on paper and rearrange it if you like- then you will have a chart personalized for your Copic collection!

Have a great day!
Shelly

Sweet Stamps- Stamped Frame

This week the Sweet Stamps Challenge is Stamped Frames.
I used the Elegant Filagree Oval stamp- ohhh isn't it pretty? I stamped the image using Versamark onto Parchment Craft Vellum.  I used Ranger Queen's Gold embossing powder- my favorite! I stamped just the top corner 4 more times and embossed  for the corners of my card.  I cut the 'extra's' out with the 4-split perforating tool.

The flowers are colored from the back using V12, V15 and YG03 Copic markers.  I then stamped my Filagree Oval frame onto white cardstock,  and cut it out just inside the first line of the frame- the white cut out is layered under the vellum to really accent the flower image in the center of the frame. I gently embossed in the centers of the gold frame edge using a soft grip stylus tool- the middle sized one- do you see the white embossed insides of the gold embossing on the frame?

This stamp has so much dimension- the vellum goes all of the way to the purple layer. I added a little touch of gold embossing to the edge of the vellum and under layer of Orchid using a brush of the vellum along the edge with Versamark and the Queen's Gold EP again. I used the score board and added some embossing (every 1/4 inch) for texture on the Orchid cardstock.

Sweet Stamps sells a started kit if you love the look of the etching/embossing and Parchment crafting. Here is a great video of Stacey in action showing the Parchment work- etching, embossing, grid rubbing, piercing and more.

I hope you will join in the challenge!  Every entry qualifies you for a chance to win $20 of items from the store at  Sweet Stamps, and if you use a Sweet Stamps image- you will receive an additional chance to win! Petunia

I had to chuckle when I saw this new image at McMahon Five Designs called Petunia.  I call my daughters Petunia........  So, I HAD to make a card with it!
I colored the image with Copics and added some micro-beads in the center of the flower.  I embossed the background with a SU folder and then sprayed the background with Pearl Glimmer Mist.  I used retired Groovy Guave cardstock from SU and cut out a border using a Spellbinders frame. The gems are colored using R22 Copic markers.
I cut into the lines of the flower to make it dimensional- here is a close-up:

Sweet Stamps - Double Dutch Fold

Sweet Stamps Challenge this week is to make a card using the 'Double Dutch Fold'. You can find the tutorial (and a video) on 'how to' at Splitcoaststampers HERE.
This is my card closed- I had so much fun making this fun card.  I used the Small Lace Fairie Queen with Angel Wing die by Cheery Lynn- it has a solid background- which is painted with Fushia Creative Inspirations Paint- and the lacey front part if the die is painted with Rose Quartz CI paint.  I mounted the butterfly on a die called Circle Multiframe- which was embossed with the Damask embossing folder.  I layered the butterfly and die onto Bo Bunny Vicki B. DSP.
For the lower segment- I use a border die called the Ribbon Border die by Marianne Dies.  It is painted with Creative Inspirations Paint Rose Quartz. I wove ribbon through the die after coloring it with Copic E50 marker. The backing DSP is more DSP from the Vicki B pack.

When you open up the card, you have many opportunities to embellish inside. I added a sentiment for Mother's Day. The DSP is the same as on the front of the card-Vicki B from Bo Bunny. The butterflies are dies from Cheery Lynn called Mini Exotic Butterflies and are painted with Creative Inspirations paint Rose Quartz.
The brown die on the border is the Ribbon Border Die- I used just the eyelet edge of it. It is sponged with Shades Ink Brownie.
The pink is the full die- the brown is the die edge only.

I hope you will join in the challenge!  Every entry qualifies you for a chance to win $20 of items from the store at  Sweet Stamps, and if you use a Sweet Stamps image- you will receive an additional chance to win! Candy Sleeve- Day 5 of Michael Strong Stamps

I made a fun 'Candy' sleeve for Day 5 of the  Michael Strong Yahoo group -as the Card Captain.

I found this tutorial on the Technique Junkies Stamping Companion CD.  It is quick and easy- ad will fit in a regular card with just a few lumps (an extra $0.20 where I live).........
I used Confetti cardstock and stamped in brown with a background image from I Brake for Stamps- it is from the Embossing Arts line.  Next, I stamped using Hetty's Coffee Cup- masking to add a portion of the steam image. I backed the image with a coffee holder.
And here it is with the tag out.....the tag will hold a mini candy or two, but the person I am sending this to does not eat candy...... yep- way more will power than me!!!
