McMahon Five Designs- From Pink to Halloween.......

Huh?  Well, you know I cannot pass up a chance to use pink, right???  I had to make a card with this precious Baby Calla Lilly image by Solocosmo from McMahon Five Designs:
Isn't she precious?  Perfect Pink opportunity, right?  Although, this could be done for a baby boy too IMHO......  I colored the image with Copic  markers. Next, I used the Dot to Dot technique from the Technique Junkies CD #9. I cut out the frame with a Nestability.  I added corner accents with Parisan Accents Nestability and pearl accents top that off.  I added pink roses by Prima (mini roses and Fairytale roses in pink) and a touch of lace. There is a Zig-Zag stitch around the perimeter of the card in Pink.  Designer paper is Basic Grey Eva.
***********************************************************************************
Switching gears- I played with a really fun Halloween image called Halloween Dress Up by Studio 313 from M5D as well.  I used the Midnight Madness Sketch Challenge #123 as a starting point.

I used Copics to color the image and added Sakura Gelly Roll shimmer for accents. The Nestability frame is from Metallic cardstock (isn't that fun?).  I added some MS punched Spider Webs and Crafty Sentiments stickers in the halloween theme.  I also punched out Stars using a retired SU punch. There is a tulle bow with an orange rhinestone at the top Rt too.
Here is a close-up of the shimmer:
***Did you know there is a McMahon Five Designs aka M5D gallery on Splitcoast Stampers???
If you use a M5D image and upload a card- tagged with M5D or McMahon Five Designs, you will be entered into a chance drawing for a gift certificate offered randomly by M5D owner Sue McMahon- winners are announced in the M5D newsletter. *****

Belli Challenge #127 Paper Piecing

For the Creative Belli Challenge we are challenged to make a card with paper piecing.

For my card I used a digital image and sentiment both from Create with TLC. After I printed my image on cardstock, I printed it on copy paper. I cut scraps of old SU DSP for each piece I wanted to paper piece, attached them to the copy paper image with removable tape and ran it through the printer again.

This is how the images look when they come out of the printer.  I cut around the printed lines and adhere to the image-and finish my card.  I added some really really old rub-ons of a tree branch with a bird on it. For the sentiment, I cut out a Nestability, traced around the outside of the Nestie onto DSP and cut out a shadow, added sponging and added some rhinestones to enter the 365 challenge day 211- Triple it. I added some sponged clouds to the sky, and used Copics to make the grass. Then I used some really old blue thread and used a Feather stitch around the edge of my card.

The spirit of the Belli challenges is to encourage you to use your OLD and FORGOTTEN embellishments!

For ideas and inspiration, check out the DT creations:

Ceal Pritchett
Anne Harmon
Jessica Stockmeyer
Joan Ervin

Crazy Amigo-"R"- Rub on, RhineStones

"Awareness" Freebie- This is for you Brian!

McMahon Five Designs has a Monthly Awareness Freebie- digital images and SVG cut files are in the store, all of which can be found HERE at the M5D website.
I love the Pumpkin with the HOPE in the center- I colored the image with Copics and added Sakura Gelly Roll pen for shimmer.
I used Green for my ribbon as my nephew Brian has been diagnosed with Wilm's tumor and has had his kidney removed and has just ONE MORE CHEMO left, then he is DONE!!!  (That will be this Tuesday!!!).
He will be going to Disney - he is one of the lucky kids that Make a Wish is granting his Wish.  He is a Huge Cars fan, and they just opened up a Cars area at Disney in Florida.
I played around a little more with the sentiment and made some background strips. I colored the images and layered up the image- the leaf on the left is popped up with a tiny piece of dimensional. The ribbon is from last fall...from the Target dollar spot.
If you make a card, please drop a line and share it- and add it to the gallery at SCS- Sue is randomly picking M5D or McMahon Five Designs tagged cards to win gift certificates to the store.

Challenges:
Card One
Sketch Saturday- Sketch
Gingersnaps- Use your crimper
Card Making Mama's- Punches
Crafting for all Seasons- Fall colors

Card two
4 Crafty Chicks- Fall or Autumn
Crafty Ribbons- Anything Goes

McMahon Five Designs New Releases 9/22/11

****The Feline Playful Thankful Blog Party is HERE****

McMahon Five Designs released this gorgeous image called Sweet Baby Mine, I had to create with it!
My creative Journey began with cross stitch, crochet and macrame, but it stepped up a notch when I had children. I began taking sewing classes- specifically smocking and sewing for children. I attended the Martha Pullen School in Huntsville and joined the Smocking Arts Guild of America (SAGA) and attended quite a few of the SAGA National Conventions where I learned smocking, embroidery and needlework from teachers from all over the world.  I hope one day my grandchildren will wear a Christening Gown like the one shown above that I make by hand (or machine)!
I made my card with Basic Grey Capella paper and a very light touch of Copic markers. I used the Top Note Die from SU and the oval shape Nestability for my card with SU cardstock. Sewing outlines around the Basic Grey paper in a Zig Zag stitch and the Prima lace to the Die adds a touch of dimension.  I had to crimp the DSP on the Top Die layer to enter the Gingersnaps Challenge.  The ribbon is wire edged and I added a button center for bling-and for the Bloggers Challenge to use buttons this week. The sentiment is free with the image. I added a touch of brown ink to the edges of all of the background panels as well.

Challenges:
Gingersnaps - Use your crimper
Sentimental Sundays- Monochromatic
Digistamps 4 Joy- Anything Goes
Simon Says Stamps-Use a die or a punch
Anything Goes Challenge- Anything Goes
Digital Tuesday- 'People' and a digi
Scrap Creations Going Grey- Anything Goes
My time to Craft- L is for.....Little One, Lace, lines (embossed with crimper)
