Grad Cards

We have a need for quite a few grad cards this year.  I made these cards using school colors of the graduate.
This card uses a Hero Arts background stamp and a digi from Create with TLC. I used the 'Color Sandwich' technique from Techique Junkies new newsletter. The diploma uses the modern label punch from SU.
Next, I used a digi paper from Create with TLC and a digi from Firecracker Designs by Pamela (she closed her store last year).

For the diploma- punch out the modern label punch from SU- roll it around something round- a pencil or a paintbrush handle.  You'll need to cut out a small piece of paper to roll up and put under it to be able to glue it down to your card. Tie fiber in matching school color around it.

Stamp Insanity-Red ,White and Blue

Have a safe and happy weekend.

Bloggers Challenge-Shimmer

I had fun with the shimmer challenge for Bloggers Challenge today . I created a very shimmery card using some light Distress Inks and Creative Inspirations Paint to add shimmer using a Technique Junkies method called dabbed shimmers.

I am not much of a collage artist, but decided to gt out some tiles and poke fun at myself- I am learning to play Scrabble on the IPhone with the Words with Friends application.  Mostly, I get 'owned' as the kids call it...but I am learning the ropes a little better and it is fun..... :)
(Did you know QI is a word???)
Here is a side view of the Shimmer.

My Little nephew is in the hospital after his last Chemo his platelet count dropped to a critical level (8,000) and had to have transfusions......  Please continue to keep him in prayers.  He is a brave brave little boy!

Come play along with us- it is a fun way to meet other Bloggers and get lots of Inspiration for your cardmaking.  Link up using the linky below to join us.

Have a fun and safe weekend!

McMahon Five Designs 5/26/11

McMahon Five New releases are out- I used Corset and I let the paper inspire me today.

I was determined not to use Pink today.......so, I found this Prima Madeline paper and went with it!  The colors for accent are SU Forest Foilage and Chocolate Chip. I printed the image on Neenah paper and colored the image with Prismacolor pencils blended with Gamsol.  I have a color chart on my sidebar from SCS that matches cardstock colors to Prismacolor pencils and Copics (Thank You Cheryl!).
The color match for Forest Foilage is 907. I used French Grey 10% on the main body of the Corset, and then used Gamsol and blended in a subtle 907 shading over that.  The bow is 'Layered up' and I added Creative Inspirations paint Fairy Dust to the top layer of the bow and to the main body of the corset.

I added a shade of green to the border of the image panel (Wisped Frames) and added 'Curled Corners' another Technique Junkies technique. I used the Midnight Madness Sketch Challenge to inspire me, so added a lace border to the top and bottom with a Zig Zag and added some card stock 'wound up' for three little flowers. I added Stickles to the top of the flowers for some shimmer.

I have another project to share with you.
I found a template on Mel's Blog (Thanks You) for a darling purse template.
This set is so shimmery!  I used Rose Quartz Mica Metallic cardstock for this PINK purse. I added score lines, then added rhinestones in pink at all of the intersections. The flowers are colored with Copic markers R81, R83, R85, and then I added a SU filigree brad finding. I made notecards that fit in the purse with the McMahon Five Awareness Freebie.

That is the same pink- the white shows off how shimmery it really is.

I had to make another purse and I used Poptones black cardstock for this one.
I just love the way a few pearls and bling can accent plain cardstock!  The butterfly (a digi from McMahon Five) is colored with Copics and I added Stardust Gelly Roll pen for shimmer.  I put the red cardstock in the crimper, and ran the Gelly roll pen along the ridges.  I will include 4 of these little cards in the purse.

The house that Stamps Built- Stitching

I have a little Blog Candy HERE- will draw the winner on Friday 5/27.

My friend Kim is a SU demo- she had a workshop last Friday, and we made a pinwheel card- my first one (what was I waiting for???).  (All stamps and DSP Stampin Up).

I really like the embossing we did on the plain red cardstock.  I changed the sentiment she added to the card- I am planning on sending the card to the chemo center in Colorado- I almost have enough cards to send.

We had a little moisture in the basement from all of the recent rain-the carpet smells bad and we cannot get rid of it with humidifiers...... and it has been a long time since we carpeted the basement, so ....as I went to make a card today, this is what I found:

All of the American Girl Dolls and Polly pockets and all were under the cut out in the stairs for when little ones come to visit......

OK, now that carpet is ripped out and that is mounted and unmounted rubber stamps from my Creative Space.......

Well, that is my sweet hubby- hard at work - he has rearranged my stuff...and it looks like I will not be creating today after all......  Oh well.....it looks like I have some sorting and rearranging in my future- it will be good once it is done......  Only bad thing about it, he is really seeing that I have lots of stamping stuff.... {clearing my throat}....I bought most of it on sale though- always thoughtful and saving him lots of $$$!!!  {grinning}.

Have a Great Monday!

McMahon Five Designs New Releases 5/17/11 and COPS

For the McMahon Five Designs release today, I used a digital image called Iris.
I colored the image with Copic markers and added highlights with a yellow Copic Spica pen.  The patterned papers are Prima Annalee and the purple cardstock is Eggplant Envy by SU.  I used the Lotus Spellbinders die and the Parisan Accents die for the corners. I used the Technique Junkies 'Level up' technique plus the Wisped Frames technique. Sentiment is by Create with TLC.

This is a close-up of the Iris image
I split a couple of areas of the iris on the top layer, and propped them up for a bit of dimension.

Next, I made up a card using the new Awareness freebie from McMahon Five Designs. I made the ribbon in honor of COPS- Concerns of Police Survivors.  Grab your awareness freebie HERE - I will post it on my sidebar this weekend.
